Edmund Equine Centre
The Catholic Agricultural College's Edmund Equine Centre is one of WA's leading equine facilities offering excellent facilities, highly qualified instructors and a broad range of education courses tailored for secondary school students.
Membership is available to all students, regardless of their previous riding experience. Instruction is provided with particular emphasis being placed on horsemanship in the English, Camp-drafting and Western Arena. The Centre promotes standards of excellence in safety and education and is registered with Horse Safe Australia.
Introductory and certificate level courses are offered covering introduction to Riding & Horse Management (Equestrian Australia), Equine Industries and Horse Breeding. Students study the Equine Course(s) as part of attaining their WA Certificate of Education.
The Centre boasts a range of fantastic riding trails through the diverse and picturesque Chittering Valley as well as a cross-country course, jumping arena and undercover wash-bay. Students may also bring their own horse to the College (subject to approval) or they can use one of the horses provided by the College that are well adjusted to be ridden by those of varying levels of experience. Students gain a broad experience in dealing with horses of different ages, gender and temperament.
The breeding program at the College enables several horses to be shown by students in relevant breed classes at shows such as at the Perth Royal Show.
Successful completion of the Equine program enables students to pursue careers in a range of areas, either on completion of the course or after further study, in such areas as management of a Stud (Assistant/ Manager) or in Vet Nursing.
Fees & charges
Please refer to the Equine Fees and Charges document for full details of fees and charges.
All fees and agistment charges are payable at the commencement of each Term. Students who are not financial members of the Edmund Equine Centre will not have access to the horses and/or Edmund Equine Centre activities. Non-payment of agistment will result in the removal of the horse from the College.
Insurance
It is recommended that Parents/Guardians insure privately owned horses and tack before they are brought to the College. Horses and tack are not covered by the College insurance.
